Sarah Viola Parr was born in Morgan Co., Ohio, June 13, 1844. Her early childhood was spent in the state of Illinois, later coming to Vernon Co., Wisc., where in 1863 at the age of 19 years she was married to James Myloe. Of this union one child, a son was born. In less than one year after her marriage - the hand of death entered the home and the young husband and father was taken from her.
On Dec. 28, 1865, Mrs. Meloy was married to John W. Appleman at Bloomingdale and shortly afterwards they moved to a farm in the Town of Clinton, where they resided until Mr. Appleman's death March 20, 1905.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Appleman remained for a number of years in the old home but finally as the weight of years began to press heavily upon her she went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Clark, where she lived until the final summons came Tues. eve, Oct. 21, 1924, bring to a close a long and active life covering a span of 80 yrs, 4 mths, and 8 days.
Of this union children were born, 7 of whom are living. James W. Meloy (White River, S.Dak.), Charles H., Mrs. Ida Clark, and Mrs. Chas. Adams (all of Sugar Grove), Mrs. J. A. Norris (of Madison), Mrs. J. W. Curry (La Farge), Mrs. A. W. Donovan (Kilbourn), Seward (Rockton).
Funeral services were held Sat. Oct. 25, at the Clark home on Sugar Grove Ridge and at the Bloomingdale Church - conducted by Rev. E. P. Stone of La Farge. Interment was made in the Bloomingdale Cemetery.
