VERNON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE:  Mrs. George Jones  (Handwritten 1963)
  Funeral services for Mrs. George Jones, 81, were held at First Methodist church, Prairie du Chien, Monday, Apr. 29, Rev. C. James Weis officiated and interment was in the Prairie du Chien cemetery.  She passed away Saturday, Apr. 27 at a local hospital, after a long illness.
  Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Appleman, she was born Oct. 31, 1881 in Vernon County, where she was reared and educated.  She was married to John Curry in 1903 and three children were born to this union.  They farmed in Vernon County for several years and moved to Valley, Wis., where he was in the hardware business.  They later moved to Richland Center and then to Prairie du Chien in 1931, where they established Gamble Store in 1932.  Mr Curry passed away in 1935.
  She was married to George Jones in 1943 and they have since made their home in Prairie du Chien  She was a member of the Methodist church.
  Surviving are her husband, two daughters and one son, Mrs. Cy Yeomans, Prairie du Chien, Mrs. Henry (Belva) Williams and Jack Curry, Boscobel.  Five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, also survive.
