Clara Lucinda Appleman was born August 28, 1877, in Clinton township, Vernon county, and died August 1, 1924 at St. Mary's Hospital Madison, Wis.
On March 28, 1895 she was united in marriage to James Maxwell. To this union were born ten children, two of whom have preceded her to the great beyond.
All that medical skill and modern resources in surgery could to to stem the chilling tide of death was done, but to no avail; the grim reaper refused to say his cruel hand. A vacancy has been left that no human being call fill. Her loss will be most keenly felt in the home. Her friends and neighbors will no longer hear her voice.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, eight children, Mrs. Golda Dolen of Beloit, Mrs. Violet Manning of Madison, William of Richland Center, Sadie, Margie, Virgil, Garland and Donald of La Farge, two sisters, three brothers, one grandchild and a host of friends.
