His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lenz Memorial Home, Lacon, the Rev. John Austin officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, where a graveside service will be conducted by Magnolia American Legion Post 254.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born March 18, 1928, in Varna, a son of John Edward and Hazel Jenkins Crew.
Surviving are four daughters, Cyndi Quin, Washington; Bonnie Austin, Clifton, Texas; Diane Lindsay, Peoria; and Nancy Christensen, Joliet; five brothers, LeVerne, Chillicothe; Clifford, Oglesby; Glenn, Magnolia; Warren, Varna; and Walter, Peru; six sisters, Helen Bridgeforth, Rutland; Elizabeth Forbes, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; Ella Teagarden and Dorothy Grubb, both of Streator; Rosie Crank, Chillicothe; and Phyllis Clearwater, Tonica; seven grandchildren; two stepsons; two stepdaughters; seven stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Crew served in the Marshall County sheriff's office for 16 years, two terms as sheriff and two terms as chief deputy.
He was a member of the Illinois Sheriff's Association, Edward Lundgren American Legion Post of Varna, Teamsters Local 727 in Peoria and United Methodist Church of Varna.
