Phyllis A. Clearwater, 91, formerly of Tonica, passed away October 18, 2016 at 12:48 PM in La Salle County Nursing Home in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Chaplain Terry Dumyahn officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 PM until time of services in the funeral home in La Salle.

Mrs. Clearwater was born on November 4, 1924 in Varna to Edward and Hazel (Jenkins) Crew. She married Oliver H. Clearwater on July 26, 1947. Mrs. Clearwater worked as a nurse’s aide in Minonk, Tonica, and retired from La Salle County Nursing Home. She was a member of Tonica United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Clearwater is survived by her children Sandra (Lowell) Warner of Ottawa, Roberta (George) Ferguson of Ottawa, and stepson David (Bonnie) Clearwater of Summerfield, LA; ten grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and four great- great grandchildren; one sister Helen Bridgeforth of Rutland.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 29, 2015, one daughter Joy Maureen Clearwater at birth, eight brothers, and four sisters.
