Savannah Henderson was born January 15, 1886 in Sherrod, Mississippi to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Arrington.
She was united in wedlock to Lawyer Richardson and twelve children were born to this union. She moved with her family to Charleston, Missouri in 1923.
In 1926 she became a widow and later married James Henderson, and to this union was born one child.
In 1936 she moved with her family to Detroit and became a widow again in 1947.
She led an active life at the Peace Baptist Church, where she had been a member for over thirty-five years. She was an active member of the Missionary Society and and she seldom missed attending church and Sunday School until she became ill the first of 1974.
She was a good and devoted mother. "We loved her, but God loved her best."
She passed away October 24, 1974 at 4 p.m. in Metropolitan Hospital, leaving to mourn: two daughters, Marie Smith and Rosie Lee Blair;
seven sons, Mack, Jesse, Willie, Lawyer, Bert, Robert Lee Richardson and Allen Henderson; twenty grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many devoted
friends. Interment - Metropolitan Memorial Cemetery, Belleville, Michigan.
