Orville C. Dodge, 97, died Sunday at a local nursing home. He was born June 15, 1879 in Littlerock near Olympia. He attended grade school in Littlerock and Columbia Academy at Battle Ground for two years until the death of his father. After the death of his mother in the late 20s [1951], he made his home in Ellensburg with his sister, Mrs. Grace L. Ploeger. Dodge was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He and his father attended the ceremonies celebrating Washington Statehood.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Grace Ploeger, Ellensburg; four brothers, Glenn of Rochester; Bradley of Woodburn, Oregon; Milton of Talent, Oregon; and Dean of White Salmon.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Evenson Chapel with graveside services at 2 p.m. at the family plot in the IOOF Cemetery in Tumwater. The Rev. Mickey Meyer will officiate.
