Ella was the daughter of Robert Bruce Dodge and Ada Lillie Marcy.

Morning Olympia, Jun 22, 1939:
Miss Ella Belle Dodge, 49, native daughter of Thurston County, whose father, Robt Bruce Dodge was among the earliest of Thurston County pioneers, died at her home at Gate at midnight, Wednesday.
Miss Dodge was born at Littlerock, February 2, 1890 and after attendance at the local schools entered the Bellingham Normal School from which she was later graduated. Her last teaching assignment was in the Rochester schools where she taught last year.
Surviving is her mother, the former Ada L. Marcy, pioneer, six brothers, T. Ives, Orville C., Gradley and Glen, all of this county, Milton of Centralia, and Dean of Trout Lake. Sisters are Mrs. Emelia Cole of Olympia; Mrs. Olive Gillett of Cle Elum; Mrs. Grace Ploeger of Ellensburg; Mrs. Sophrona Knapp of Gate, and Mrs. Mary Stroup of Seattle.
Funeral services will be held from the Mills and Mills Chapel, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. W. W. White of Centralia, officiating, with interment in the IOOF Cemetery.
