Margaret Permelia Cole, one of Thurston County's early pioneers, died in an Olympia rest home Thursday at the age of seventy-eight years. She was born in Mima on May 17, 1872, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Bruce Dodge who homesteaded on Mima Prairie. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and the Thurston County Pioneer Association. She is survived by three sons, George R. Van Vleet, Cannon Beach, Oregon; Charles J. Van Vleet, Alpena Pass, Arkansas, and Reuben B. Van Vleet, Yuba City, California; also three grandchildren. The funeral service will be held in Mills & Mills chapel this Monday afternoon, starting at three o'clock. Burial will take place in Masonic Cemetery, beside her first husband George Van Vleet.
