Mrs. Ada L. Dodge, 92-year-old Olympia District pioneer and a resident of the State of Washington for three-quarters of a century, died early this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Grace L. Ploeger on Route 3 here.
Mrs. Dodge came to Washington from California with her parents in 1876. There were still hostile Indians in the area when the family settled at Littlerock on Mima Prairie near Olympia. Mrs. Dodge lived there until she came to Ellensburg 12 years ago to make her home with her daughter.
Mrs. Dodge would have been 93 years old in May. She was born at Fayette, LaFayette County, Wisconsin on May 19, 1858. She was a member of the First Day Adventist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ploeger and Mrs. Mary Stroup of Ellensburg, Mrs. Olive E. Gillett of Cle Elum and Mrs. Sophrona Knapp of Rochester, Washington; five sons, Orville C. Dodge of Ellensburg, Bradley M. Dodge of Seattle, Glen R. Dodge of Rochester, Milton B. Dodge of Apple Valley, California, and Dean Dodge of Trout Lake, Washington; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Honeycutt-Evenson Chapel here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with graveside services in Olympia, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Elder Leland C. Hesseltine will officiate at the services here.
