ALVA – The funeral for Roland Porter Arndt, 90, will be 2 P.M. Saturday at Wharton Funeral Chapel. Nick Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery.
He was born April 24, 1908, north of White Horse to Myrtle Cummins and Robert Perry Arndt and died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999.
He attended White Horse Rural Grade School and helped his parents on the farm. On March 30, 1940, he married Florence Ethel Herold at Alva. They lived on a farm near White Horse. In 1944, they moved to a farm near Hardtner, Kan., and in 1947, moved to Alva. He worked for Rose Brothers Construction Company, Burt Reed Farm and Ranch Store and the Hatchery, then Alva Municipal Cemetery and City of Alva Sanitation Department.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy of Oklahoma City and Rita Miller of Alva; two sisters, Revenna Rose of Alva and Avis Cline of Cañon City, Colo.; one brother, Ralph, of Alva; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, two sisters and two brothers.
