ALVA – The funeral for Ralph L. Arndt, 86, will be at 10 A.M. Tuesday at Alva Assembly of God with the Rev. Darla Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Alva Municipal Cemetery under direction of Wharton Funeral Chapel.
He was born Jan. 3, 1913, near White Horse to Robert Perry and Myrtle Louella Cummins Arndt and died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Alva Share Medical Center.
He attended White Horse Rural Grade School and helped on the farm.
On Nov. 22, 1935, he married Esta Clora Reed. She died on June 23, 1985.
They farmed northwest of Alva, and in 1955 they moved to Alva. He worked for Curtis Oil Company and Oklahoma State Highway Department.
On Nov. 30, 1985, he married Vesta Cook at Rogers, Ark. They made their home in Alva. She returned to Arkansas in 1999.
He is survived by one daughter, Shirley Fields of Portales, N.M.; two sons, Wilbert of Guymon and Leon of Alva; one sister, Avis Cline of Cañon City, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, one son, three sisters, and three brothers.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Red Cross.
