Lawrence Perry, son of Myrtle (Cummins) and Robert P. Arndt, was born July 29, 1905, in Alva. He passed away at Share Medical Center on the 7th of December at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 9 days.
He attended the Whitehorse Rural Grade School, farmed at home and worked in the Three Sands Oil Field near Tonkawa.
On November 12, 1927, at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, he was married to Zelma Arb. To their marriage eleven children were born.
Following their marriage they farmed north of Cora and in 1930 went to Booker, Texas. In late 1930 they returned to northwest of Alva to farm, and in 1943, Lawrence started working for the Alva Roller Mills until it closed in 1958. He served as President of the local AFL-CIO union at the mill and later was the foreman. In 1947 the Arndts moved to Alva, and Lawrence began working for the W.B. Johnston Grain Company until March of 1967 when he retired. They then went to Mosca, Colorado, and in January of 1976 returned to Alva to make their home.
He was a member of the Alva First Church of the Nazarene.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Zelma of home, four daughters and their husbands: Glenda and Chuck Yarberry of Oklahoma City; Juanita and Bert Neuenschwander of Newkirk; Nadine and W. Dennis Painton of Fairview; and Charleen and Dean Herren of Dacoma. Seven sons and their wives: Rev. Lowell and Verna of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Darrell of Henryetta, Texas; Wilford and Mary of Waynoka; Larry and Janet of Moffat, Colorado; Gary and Linda of Buena Vista, Colorado; Lyle and Dorothy, and Neal and Georgia, all of Alva. Forty-eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Revenna Rose and Beulah and her husband Ray Shafer, all of Alva. Two brothers and their wives, Roland and Florence, and Ralph and Esta, all of Alva. A number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
