FILLMORE—James Day, 85, died Monday night at the family residence here of infirmities incident to age.

Mr. Day was born in England on January 20, 1849, a son of Richard and Elizabeth Smith Day. He came to Utah in 1869 and married Emma Mitchell in 1876. They moved to Deseret and later to Fillmore, where Mr. Day for many years worked as a farmer and miller. He was instrumental in completing many civic projects in this locality.

The 101 members of the Day family, including children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sons and daughters-in-law, gathered August 19 at the family residence for a reunion.

Surviving are his widow, Emma Mitchell Day, and their 14 sons and daughters, Mrs. Ida Jackson, Frank, Elmer, Ervin, Horace, Clinton and Wallace Day and Mrs. Ruby Davies, Fillmore; Mrs. Flora Cooper and Jesse Day, Aurora; Walter A. and Willard Day, Salt Lake City; Miss Venus Day, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Ethel Stewart, Phoenix, Ariz.; 48 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Rowley, and three brothers, George, Charles and Miah Day. Fillmore.

Funeral services will be conducted in the L. D. S. First ward chapel Thursday at 1 p. m.
