Born on March 13, 1888 in Fillmore, the seventh child of fourteen children born to James and Emma Mitchell Day. He married Ella Brunson on July 2, 1908. Later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She died in 1915. He married Edna Lewis on May 5, 1920, later solemnized int he Manti LDS Temple.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Millard High School. He graduated, BYU Normal School, later known as BYU. Following graduation from BYU in 1908 he taught school in Grantsville, Richfield and later taught at the Fillmore Elementary School, where he became principal. Served as Mayor of Fillmore for four years during which time the Fillmore Cement Irrigation System was constructed. Lifetime of service includes: Postmaster of Fillmore for 14 years, worked first int he Millard County Assessor's Office then as Deputy Millard County Treasurer for 24 years, leaving the service of Millard County at age 76 after 56 years of service.
Survivors: wife, son, Boyd Day, both of Fillmore; daughters, Mrs. J. A. (May)Ogle, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Jacob A. (Gwen) Davies, Roy, Utah; several grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Walthu (Venus) Barnes, San Gabriel, California. Preceded in death by two sons, Horace Earl and Gale.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, one p.m. in the Fillmore First/Fourth LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday, 8-9 p.m. and on Wednesday,one hour prior to services at the Olpin Mortuary, Fillmore. Burial in the Fillmore City Cemetery.
