Fillmore - Clinton Day, 81, Fillmore, died May 30th of natural causes in a Fillmore Hospital.
Born Oct. 1, 1891, Fillmore, to James and Emma Mitchell Day. Married Flora Doutre June 9, 1920, Fillmore. She died Sept. 19, 1955. Married Jane Brunson 1957, Ely, Nev. She died Mar. 30, 1959. Married Georgia Brunson Nov. 25, 1959. Veteran WWI. Former railroad worker.
Survivors: widow; son, daughters, James Alexander, Roy; Rose, Nephi; Mrs. Bud (Dolly) Cook, Springfield, Ore. , 8 grandchildren; brothers, sisters, Horace, Mrs. Ruby Davis, both Fillmore; Mrs. Flora Cooper, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ethel Stewart, San Clemente, Calif. , Mrs. Venus Barnes, San Gabriel, Calif.
Funeral Saturday 1 pm Fillmore 2nd LDS Ward. Friends call Olpin Mortuary, Fillmore, Saturday prior to service.
Burial Fillmore City Cemetery.
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Clinton Day (ASN: 2264227), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 58th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division, A.E.F., near St. Thibault, France, 7 August 1918. Private Day repeatedly volunteered and carried messages from his company in the front line across an open field swept by enemy machine-gun and sniper fire, to the battalion post command. He also voluntarily made trips across this dangerous area for the purpose of filling canteens for wounded soldiers and securing stretchers.
