Mary was the second child born of twelve children to James Earl Alberts and Phalby Sara Cooper. She grew up on her parents peanut farm in central Texas. The peanut farm produced peanuts that were sold in the neighboring communities. The Alberts' were famous for their peanuts and peanut brittle which was availabe all around the area. In 1930 Mary married Lee Filmore. Three children were born to this union. Rosie, Hazie Lee, and Leona Veary were all raised in the same area as their parents. The Filmore family remained in Lee County and continued to work the peanut farm for sometime. She was preceded in death by her mother, her brothers, Fred, James Jr., Chatman, Morty Buster, and her sister Minerva. She was survived by her husband Lee Filmore, her children Rosie, Hazie Lee, Leona Veary, her brothers Dan, Moses, Henry, Amos, and sisters Ursula, and Priscilla, her father, James Earl Alberts and neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.
