Vernon Lee Filmore was one of 14 children born to Link Filmore and Fannie Lee McNeal. He and his brothers and sisters were raised in centeral Texas. In 1930 he married Mary "Mae" Alberts. They remained in the same area they had both grown up in and helped to work the peanut farm of the Alberts family. Three children were born to this union. Rosie, Hazie Lee, and Leona Veary were all raised in Lee County Texas. Vernon lost his beloved Mae in 1966 after 36 years of marriage. He never remarried. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Rosie, Hazie, and Leona; his sisters and brothers, Elizabeth, Mar Napoleon, Releigh, Katie, Willie Lee, Eliza, Decille, Rufus, Roger, Dathula, Link and Robert. Also mourning his passing are many neices, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
