LUCY SKAGGS DIES AT 83 IN HOSPITAL:
Mrs. Lucy Mary Skaggs, 83, 125 Western, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital.
She was born May 27, 1885, at Soldier and had lived in Topeka since 1917. She was a graduate of Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia.
She taught at Polk Elementry School in Topeka, Berryton Grade School, Silver Lake High School and the Topeka Night School before she retired.
Her husband, Dr. E.P. Skaggs, died in 1952.
Survivors include a son, John F. Skaggs, at home; a stepson, Roy Thobourne, Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Charlie Minner, Soldier; Claude Minner, Vista, Calif., and Clyde Minner, Festus, Missouri; two sisters Mrs. Bertha Forster, Soldier, and Mrs. Ratia Klusmire, Holton; and a half-sister, Mrs. Millicent Heath, 1200 Harrison, Topeka.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
