Bertha Lorena (Minner) Forster died Monday, March 19, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in Arizona. She had been living with her daughter, Annaliese Gaun, in Scottsdale. Walter and Bertha moved to Arizona from Florida three years ago.

Bertha Lorena Minner was born October 23, 1898 at Soldier. She was the youngest daughter of nine children of John P. and Eliza (Baker) Minner.

Bertha attended Buckeye Grade School and Soldier High School. She graduated from Emporia Teachers College at Emporia. She taught school at Bonner Springs, where she met Walter Forster and they were married February 7, 1925 in New York City.

Bertha and Walter had four children; Rosemary (deceased); Walter, Jr.; Johann; and Annaliese.

She spent a major part of her married life in Havana, Cuba.

Walter and Bertha raised two Cuban children. Albert and Elena, both now residing in Florida.

Bertha and her family returned to Soldier each summer possible to visit her family and friends. Occaisonally she stayed with Charlie Minner, Soldier; Ratia Klusmire, Holton; Lucy Skaggs of Topeka and Clyde Minner of Missouri. Bertha and Walter had a summer home 4 miles west of Soldier and spent a lot of summers there. Soldier held a very special place in her heart. To her and her family, Soldier meant home.

Bertha is survived by her husband, Walter Forster, Scottsdale, Arizona; Walter Jr., Callahan, Florida; Johann, Springfield, Virginia, and Annaliese Gaun, Scottsdale, Arizona. She has one living brother, Clyde Minner of Mesa, Arizona.

Bertha left 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 23, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Larry Jacobs officiating. Claude Rieschick and LeRoy Rieschick sang "Have Thine Own Way" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."

Pallbearers were Charlie Gaun, Duane Minner, Lyle Minner, Wayne Minner and Merwin Squires.

Bertha was laid to rest in the Soldier Cemetery beside her daughter, Rosemary, and her parents.
