Funeral services held for John Oliver Olson
Funeral services for John Oliver Olson were held Wednesday at the North Preston Lutheran Church. Reverend David Grindberg officiated. Burial was in the North Preston Lutheran Cemetery. John Oliver Olson was born January 28, 1898 at Lake Preston to Arnie and Louise (Olson) Boe. He married Teressa Jensen September 20, 1920 in Lake Preston. They farmed in the Lake Preston area until 1946 at which time he started carpentry work. He finished his career at Prairie Village in Madison in 1975. John spent his last four years at the Kingsbury Memorial Manor in Lake Preston. He is survived by four sons: Orville of Madison, Robert of Lake Preston, Wallace of Grass Valley, Calif., and Hubert Jensen of Lake Preston; four daughters: Beulah Giles of Pocatello, Idaho, Ruby Lowe of Sioux Falls, Murriel Warner of Grass Valley and Charolette Smith of Erwin; 44 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Albert and Martin Olson of Lake Preston; four sisters: Nellie Larson of Sioux Falls, Ella Jensen of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Marvin (Elvera) Jensen of Walnut Grove, Minn., and Martha Hedberg of Lake Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Arvid; one daughter, Evelyn; and four grandchildren.
