Ella M. Olson was born on May 4, 1904, in Lake Preston area. She was baptized and confirmed at the north Preston Lutheran Church, and remained an active member of that church and community for 56 years of her life. She married Otto L. Jensen on August 24, 1929. They farmed in the Lake Preston area until moving to Sioux Falls in 1960. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Otto passed away in 1984. Ella touched the lives of many children by providing day care in her home for 30 years and at the young age of 88 she retired. Ella's greatest joy in life was her family. she spent much of her life caring and giving to others. She especially enjoyed the holidays when she could make lefse and other Christmas goodies and share them with neighbors and friends. She raised nine children as well as caring for several aging family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Otto, and her sons, Arden, Lyle, and David. She is survived by two sons, Donald and his wife, Leora, Sioux Falls, Lonnie and his wife , Betty, Sioux Falls; four daughters, Mrs. James (Marilyn) Person, Pierre, SD, Mrs. Bill (Carol) Kollis, Sioux Falls, Mrs. Robert (LuAnn) Decker, Sioux Falls, Mrs. James (Sheryl) Walston, South Sioux City, NE; two daughter's in law, Mrs. Ken (Elaine) Hedberg, Lake Preston, SD, and LaDonna Jensen, Lake Preston, SD; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Larson, Sioux Falls, SD, Mrs. Alvina Jensen, New Ulm, MN; two brothers, Martin Olson, Lake Preston, SD and Albert Olson, Brookings, SD.
