Frieda Kraft Lawton Frieda Kraft Lawton, 58, of 539 Clark Ave., died Monday in St. Vincent's Hospital after having a heart operation.

Frieda Kraft Lawton, 58, of 539 Clark Ave., died Monday in St. Vincent's Hospital after having a heart operation.

Frieda was born March 7, 1919, in Glen Ullin, ND, and she was the second daughter (Pauline the 1st daughter died as a baby.) and 9th child born to Jacob and Anna Marie (Zimbelmann) Kraft. She lived on a farm in the Belfry, Bridger area, and then moved with her parents to Billings in 1927. She lived in Hardin and Red Lodge and then in 1943 returned to Billings. She enjoyed reading and was well-known as an excellent cook. Since she was the oldest daughter, she spent her growing up years helping her mother, by cooking, cleaning, gardening, washing and taking care of her younger siblings. She spent many years of her life as a cook in restaurants. She had been a cook at the former Red Lion, the 4-B's Restaurant, and for eight years at the Billings Elks Club. For the past four years, she was the housekeeper at the Billings Career Center.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Stansbury of 539 Hark Ave., and Frank Anderson of Federal Heights, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Haworth of 2224 Alamo Drive; seven brothers, John Kraft of Laurel, Jake and Emanuel Kraft, both of Absarokee, and Albert, Bruce, Edward and Herman Kraft, all of west Billings; four sisters, Mrs. Art Jensen of Springville, Utah, Mrs. Cecelia Anderson of Fort Benton, MT; Mrs. Bernie Rasmusson of Polson, MT, and Peggy Kraft of Billings ; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Michelotti-Sawyers West Chapel, with burial to be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Frieda married

#2 Edward Anderson 24 May 1948 • Laurel, Yellowstone, Montana, USA, and they had 1 child. Divorced 26 Oct 1955 • Red Lodge, Carbon, Montana, USA,

#3 Chester O. Lawton 2 Sep 1960 • Musselshell, Musselshell, Montana, USA., Divorced 23 Aug 1963 • Billings, Yellowstone, Montana, USA

Name: Frieda (on some records it is Freda with the German Spelling), and she did not have a middle name--only one of her 16 siblings was given a middle name at birth, but she made up and used a middle name, Orra, after she became an adult, so many of her records indicate this was her middle name.
