Herman Kraft, 80, of Billings, passed away Saturday, June 27, 1992. Herman, son of Jacob and Anna Marie, was born Oct. 27, 1911 in Odessa, Russia. The family emigrated to this country in 1913. He lived in Glen Ullin, N.D., and then moved to Bluegrass, N.D. In 1927, at the age of 16, he and the family moved to Montana.

On Aug. 15, 1933, Herman married Elizabeth Catherine Messer. Upon their marriage, they farmed at Belfry, where son Clarence was born; then Hardin, where Jacob Eugene and Deroy Albert were born; then to Bridger, where Elden was born; then to Billings, where Clayton, Marlene and LaVaine were born. Herman was an electrician and worked in construction until retiring. Herman is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of 58 years; five children, Clarence of Fairbanks, Alaska, Elden of Dickinson, N.D., Clayton of Salem, Ore., Mrs. Clifford (Marlene) Hust of Jamestown, N.D., and LaVaine of Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers, Ed, Emanuel, Albert and Bruce "Boots"; three sisters, Peggy Kraft, Alice Rasmussen and Anna Jensen; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Anna Marie Kraft; two sons, Deroy Albert and Jacob Eugene; three brothers, Bill, Jake and John; three sisters, Cecelia Anderson, Catherine Hergenrider and Frieda Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1992 at First Congregational Church in Laurel with interment in Laurel Cemetery. Smith-Cashmore Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
