John Robert Ireland, age 76, died Saturday, May 14, 1949 at the John Graves Ford Memorial Hospital, Georgetown, KY. after a stay of 10 days. Mr. Ireland was a resident of Great Crossing, Scott County for 22 years. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease and arteriosclerosis.

Mr. Ireland, a native of Owen County, KY was the son of Asa William 'A. W.' Ireland and Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland. He was a member of the Leesburg Christian Church.

Mr. Ireland was a farmer and was the husband of Mattie Baldwin Ireland. He was survived by seven daughters, Mrs Elva Ireland Adams (George), Mrs. Ona Mae Ireland Hukill (John Thomas), Mrs. Mildred Penn (William H.), Mrs. Alta Wood Ireland Cottrell (John Austin), Mrs. Verbal Lee Simon (Harry), and Nora B. Ireland Brooking (Judge Charles Murray), all of Georgetown, KY, and Mrs. Lucille Reynolds (J.L.) of Jessamine County, KY, and one son, William Chester Ireland of Scott Country, KY.

Mr. Ireland was survived by one sister; Mrs. Stella Ireland Forsythe (Fred), Harrison County, KY. Mr. Ireland was predeceased by five brothers; Mr. Hendrix Ireland (Effie) of Covington, KY, and Wesley Ireland (Ollie), Cleveline Ireland (Bessie), Joseph S. Ireland (Ollie) and George William Ireland (Iva), and one sister, Mrs. Allie Ireland Haley (Charles), all of Harrison County KY. Mr. Ireland was survived also by 21 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held, Monday, May 16, 1949 at Johnson's Funeral Home in Georgetown, KY. Pallbearers were Will Reynolds, Z. H. Brooking, John Baker, George Cottrell, Charlie Knight, and Elmer Marshall. Mr. Ireland was burried in the Masonic Cemetery, Stamping Ground, KY on May 16, 1949.
