Wesley Ireland, a farmer, age 27, husband of Ollie May Ireland, died Friday, November 4, 1911 near Lees Lick, Harrison County, KY. as the result of an accidental gunshot wound.

Mr. Ireland was the son of Asa William 'A. W.' Ireland and Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland.

In addition to his wife, Ollie, Mr. Ireland was survived by a daughter, Edith Ireland.

Mr. Ireland was also survived by four brothers; John Robert Ireland (Mattie), Joseph S. Ireland (Ollie), Hendrix Ireland (Effie), and George William Ireland (Iva), and two sisters; Mrs. Stella Ireland Forsythe (Fred) and Mrs. Allie Ireland Haley (Charles).

Mr. Wesley Ireland's short life was filled with tragedy. Wesley was predeceased by a son, Cecil May Ireland, who died of Cholera in June of 1911 and a daughter, Mary Alice Ireland, in 1909 after she suffered fatal wounds when her clothes caught fire from a grate. In April of 1912, five months and three weeks following his death, a son, John Wesley 'Johnnie' Ireland was born to Mrs. Ireland. Mr. Ireland was also predeceased by a brother, Cleveline Ireland (Bessie), earlier in the year of 1911. Wesley Ireland had been a witness in March of 1911 when his brother Cleveland Ireland, was shot and killed by his brother-in-law Obey Garnett.

Mr. Wesley Ireland's own death occurred while he was hauling corn on November 3rd. He had taken his shotgun with him to shoot rabbits. The gun slippled and was falling from the wagon to the ground when Wesley caught the weapon near the end of its barrel. In pulling it towards him the hammer or trigger caught an obstruction and the weapon was discharged. He died the following morning.

Burial was in Jacksonville Cemetery November 5, 1911.
