Mrs. Mattie Baldwin Ireland, 83, widow of John Robert Ireland, died Wednesday, March 14, 1962 at John Graves Ford Memorial Hospital after an illness of two years.

Mrs. Ireland was a native of Harrison County, the daughter of James and Mary Ann Fields Baldwin.

Mrs. Ireland was a member of the Mt. Gilead Methodist Church and a member of the women's Sunday School class, and former member of the Homemakers class, at the Great Crossings Baptist Church, Georgetown, KY.

Surviving are seven daughters; Mrs Elva Ireland Adams (George), Mrs. Ona Mae Ireland Hukill (John Thomas), Mildred Penn (William H.), Mrs. Alta Wood Ireland Cottrell (John Austin), Mrs. Verbal Lee Ireland Simon (Harry), and Nora B. Ireland Brooking (Judge Charles Murray), all of Georgetown, KY, and Mrs. Lucille Ireland Reynolds (J.L.) of Jessamine County, KY; a brother Eddie S. Baldwin and a daughter-in-law Mrs. Alice Baker Ireland, both of Scott County, KY; 22 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ireland was predeceased by one son, Chester Ireland of Scott County, and five siblings; Sallie Baldwin ?, Elizabeth Baldwin ?, Ira, James, Leonard, and Jacob Baldwin.

Funeral services were held Friday March 16, 1962 at the Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ralph Ireland, Kenneth Ireland, Gayle Reynolds, David Cottrell, Jimmy Adams, Johnny Hukill, Terry Hukill, J. W. Ireland, and Noel Wayne Ireland. Honorary bearers were Bond Boots, A. G. Hamilton, Dave Chowning, Walter Perry, Julian Tribble, Thomas Reynolds, and Buddy Richardson. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery at Stamping Ground, KY.
