Mary Lizabeth James was born on April 15,1856 to Martin James and Mary Forbes at Dripping Springs, Hays Co, Texas.

She married Benjamin Hale Cade on September 30, 1874 in Hays Co., Texas. They had twelve children together: Samuel(1875), John(1877),James(1879), Noah(1881), Thomas(1883), Grover(1884)Lizabeth'Dollie'(1886), William(1888), Myrtle(1889), Anna(1891) Edward(1882) and Viron(1893). They also raised two other children from Benjamin's first marriage to E J 'Bettie' Williams: Louise(1869) and Mary 'Bessie' (1871).

They left Texas in 1909 to go live in Oregon. Benjamin was a farmer and the boys helped on the farm, while Mary and the girls took care of the home.

Mary died on November 20,1934. She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Hale in 1925 and son Grover C in 1909. She was survived by two stepdaughters, three daughters and eight sons, thirty-two grandchildren , twenty-one great-grandchildren and three sisters.

She was a member of the Interdenominational Church. She was a wonderful person and everyone who knew her loved her.
