Floyd Harrison DeHart was born on March 4, 1889 in Rawlins county, Kansas to James Floyd and Rose Vallier-DeHart. His mother died when he was 9 months old so his grandmother, Mary Vallier raised him until his father re-married to Blanche Barnhart.
He married Nellie Etta Frazell on October 28, 1914 at the home of the bride's parent's at Ough, Nebraska.
To this union, 9 children were born. Three of the children died in infancy. Surviving him are his wife, Nellie and his children, Merle Fortkamp and husband, Fred, Leland DeHart, Mason and wife Beulah Wickizer-DeHart, Marvin and wife Irene Troxel-DeHart, Irene DeHart and Joan DeHart. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and three sisters.
