Rosella Ernestine (DeHart) Hendrickson, was born Aug. 7, 1907, to James Floyd and Felicity Blanche (Barnhart) DeHart on the farm of her grandparent's, George Jackson and Sarah (Corey) DeHart, in Calhoun County, Iowa. Ernestine died on May 31, 1998 at the Dundy County Community Hospital at the age of 90.
On April 10, 1929, she was married to Malvin Dean Hendrickson, a farm neighbor. This union was blessed with four children; two sons and two daughters. The first born son, Marlin Dean died in infancy.
Ernestine was employed for many years in the J. C. Penney Store and in the Ireland Department Store in Benkelman, NE.
Ernetine was preceded in death by: parents, infant son on Sept. 23, 1932; half brother, Floyd Harrison DeHart; sisters, Eva Kitt, Hazel Durbin and Lela Little , and brother, LeRoy "Roy" Coleman DeHart.
Survivors are: husband, Malvin Hendrickson of Benkelman; children, Marilyn Jean of Omaha, Nebraska, Phyllis and husband, Bill Sandsted fo Pensacola, Fla., and Eldon and wife, Eileen of Loveland, Colorado; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 1998, at the Friends Church in Benkelman, NE. with the Rev Keith Halsch officiating. Mary Baney was the organist and Iola and Don Egle sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "Going Home."
Interment was in the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE.
