Blanche Felicity Barnhart was born to William and Felicity Beardsley-Barnhart on February 15, 1879 in Lowell, Ohio and departed this life at her home in Benkelman, Nebraska on March 8, 1964 at the age of 89 years and 22 days.
Mrs. DeHart came from a pioneer family of ten children. Her father was a Civil War Veteran. He came west to take a government homestead. This was located on the Middle Beaver Creek about five miles west of McDonald, Kansas.
On May 7, she was united in marriage to James Floyd DeHart.
She acquired a step son when she married as James first wife, Rose Vallier DeHart had died nine months after the birth of Floyd Harrison DeHart. To James and Blanche, five children were born, Eva, Hazel, Lela, LeRoy and Ernestine.
Early in their marriage they moved to Ashland, Ne and then to Lake City, Iowa and then back to Dundy county.
Survivors are Eva Kitt, Lela Little, Ernestine Hendrickson and one step daughter-in-law, Nellie DeHart of Wauneta, 23 grandchildren, 69 greatgrandchildren; nine gggrandchildren, and one sister, Clara Morris of Loveland, Colorado.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1964 at the Benkelman Methodist Church. The Rev. Clyde Jacobson officiated and interment was at the Benkelman cemetery with Jay's Funeral Home in charge.
