Albert Marion Carter, Jr., 85, passed away on August 4, 2016, at Victoria Gardens in Allen, Texas, following a brief illness. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Williams Memorial Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m., Saturday, in Garland Memorial Park.

Albert was born in Fannin County, Texas, to the late Albert Marion Carter, Sr. and Stella Gertrude Bevis Carter. He attended schools in Honey Grove, Texas, and went to Southern Methodist University where he received his GED. On September 3, 1955, he married Wanda Weaver in Rockwall, Texas, at the First Methodist Church in Rockwall.

He was working for TP&L when he was drafted in the Korean War. He served in Korea for one year and five months. He was discharged as a Sergeant. Albert received Good Conduct Medal, (Go# 36 Hos 4070th ASU) Korean Svc Medal w/2 Bronze Stars, UN SVC Medal and SVC Medal. Batry D 24th AAA Gn Bn.

Albert retired from National Oil Well in 1994 and moved to his farm in Fannin County until health problems caused him to move back to Garland in 2009. His hobbies included working in his garden, working on his tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deanna Gail Carter; sisters, Dorothy Mozelle Norris and Inez York; a brother, Roy Bevis Carter; and mother and father-in-law, Gertrude and Noble Henry Weaver.

Survivors include his wife of 60+ years, Wanda Weaver Carter; sons, Rickey Carter and his wife, Joy, of Austin, and Mike Carter and his wife, Mylinda, of Allen; daughter-in-law, Toni Carter, of Austin; grandchildren: Chris Carter and his wife, Allisa, of Dripping Springs, Texas, Laura Carter, of Austin, Alexis Carter, of Brooklyn, New York, and Tucker Carter and Cole Carter, both of Allen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Julia and Brandon Carter of Drippings Springs; sisters, Lorene Wallin, of Mesquite, Texas, and Gladys Stevenson, of Irving, Texas; brother, Lynn Carter and wife, Martha, of Wichita Falls, Texas; as well as numerous cousins and friends.
