Obituary:
John H. Edelblute, a well known and respected citizen of Huntigndon, died at his home, 60 Warm Springs Ave., on Thursday evening, January 27, 1910 at 9:45 having suffered a paralytic stroke just four hours previously. He had seemed as well as usual during the day and while not in really good health, was able to entertain his friends and enjoy his meals. He was almost 63 years of age. The deceased, John Hoover Edelblute, was a native of Williamsurg, living there until 35 years ago, when he moved to Huntingdon. While in Williamsburg and for a short time after he came to this place, he was a boatman by occupation. For 14 years he was a janitor of the Presbyterian church, for 3 yrs janitor of the court house and for the past 20 years he had been superintendent and sexton of the Riverview cemetery. He was of a kind and gentle disposition an a consistent member of the Presbyterian church. He is survived by 9 children: Emma, Robert, Sarah, Gertrude and Clyde all at home; Mrs. H.W. Gerlock and Wm Edelblute of Huntingdon; Mrs. O.S. Lewis of Beaver Falls, PA and Edward Edelblute of Altoona, PA. Also by one sister, Mrs. Sarah Weirhame of Manhattan, KS. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the late residence, the services being conducted by Rev. Dr. Daubenspeck. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
