Hilda A. Allison

East Liverpool, OH--Services will be held this morning for Hilda A. Allison, 92, of the Netwick Convalescent Home, who died at 7 A.M. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at the home following a four-year illness. She was born in East Liverpool, March 18, 1905, a daughter of the late Fred and Clara Settig Goppert. She worked with her family at the former Allison Grocery Store in Chester. Earlier, she was employed at the Taylor, Smith and Taylor Pottery. A 50 year member of the Fairview Grange, she also was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Church Women; Crescent Chapter 49, Order of Eastern Star; Newell Rebekah Lodge 74; Hancock Homemakers Extension Group; Auxiliary to American Legion Post 121; and Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450. Her husband, John Allison, died in 1960. A son, Walter Allison died in 1996. She is survived by a son, George A. Allison of Chester; two daughters, Alma Caughey of Campbell, CA, and Mrs. Robert (Kate) Barker of Calcutta; a sister, Sara Stoffel of Chester; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The Rev. Dr. Harry Fox will conduct the services at 11 A.M. today at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery. The family suggest memorial tributes to take the form of contributions to the Organ Fund at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of 500 Hill Blvd., East Liverpool, OH 43920.
