All three adults (Thomas and both his wives) and three sons (the two oldest children by Miss Sarah Barbour Browne and the youngest child by Miss Mollie Williamson Ware) had been buried on the land attached to their home, "The Russells", in Williamsburg. Mary Ware Stevens Greene had them moved to Bruton Parish Churchyard (in sight of The College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA) because it was so hard to maintain the cemetery, since she lived 150 miles away. There is a raised "bench" marker with a "Bloxton Family" plaque on top in a cemetery addition on the church grounds. Ms. GodSon sent me scanned photos from the church of this marker:

"THE BLOXTON FAMILY - RE-INTERRED FROM A PRIVATE CEMETERY - DEC. 5, 1990"

Oldest son of William Ashby Bloxton, Jr. and Lucy Clift Bloxton, THOMAS LAURENCE BLOXTON (b. 1836 in Stafford County, VA) (age 35 on 1870 census) ("not a young man" when he fought in Civil War as a "Carrier"; he took his slave with him, who called him "Mars Tom". Thomas died in 1908).

Mr. Thomas Bloxton, aged 73 years, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of upper York County, died "last night", January 17, 1908, at his home, after a short illness. Mr. Bloxton came here from Stafford County about 50 years ago (circa 1859) and has resided here since. He was a splendid citizen, a devoted father and friend. His wife preceded him to the grave "several years ago", and he was survived by three daughters -- Misses Lucy, Coly and Letitia Bloxton, and one brother, Mr. Alfred Bloxton, of Stafford. The funeral took place the afternoon of January 19, 1908, from the residence in upper Bruton district, at 3 o'clock, and the interment was in the family burying ground on the old homestead. The services were conducted by Rev. W. A. R. Goodwin. The following were pallbearers: Messrs. John L. Mercer, J. T. Christian, H. D. Cole, B. D. Peachy, G. P. Coleman, W. E. Roach, R. A. Alexander, Dr. G. A. Hankins, and B. B. Wolfe.
