If William Ashby Bloxton I WAS "56" years old at death, his birth year would be 1805. The birth year of his first wife, Lucy Clift Bloxton, was 1810; she died on May 27, 1846, at age 42, in Stafford County of a hemorrhage exactly two months after her fourth son, Alexander Edwin Bloxton, was born.

WILLIAM ASHBY BLOXTON I was the son of
ABRAHAM BLOXTON (b. ca 1776, Charles County, Maryland -
d. ca 1813, Stafford County, Virginia, age: 37)
& CATHERINE "KITTY" BLOXTON (b. ca 1776-1784 - d. after 1820). They appear on the 1810 census for Stafford County, VA, with six children--three sons and three daughters.

William Ashby Bloxton I
was a "Farmer of 10,000 acres"
Born circa 1808, Stafford County, VA

In 1829, W.A. BLOXTON I married his 1st wife:
LUCY CLIFT, daughter of FIELDING CLIFT & ELIZABETH ELKINS CLIFT.
LUCY CLIFT was born circa 1805-1810 in Stafford County, VA.
She died on May 27, 1846. They had four sons.

Circa 1846, W.A. BLOXTON I married his
2nd wife: MARY ELIZABETH BURTON
(JUN 1823 - 17 MAY 1906)
They had seven children.
(Their first son was conceived ca. Sept 1847, so they were married between then and Lucy Clift Bloxton's death on May 27, 1846.)

WAB's two oldest sons stayed on the farm with him; his two youngest sons were apparently raised by Lucy's parents, Fielding Clift, and/or brother, Arthur F. Clift, and the Packards:

After his mother died in 1846, when WAB III was age 2,
William Ashby Bloxton III (age 6) was on the 1850 Census staying in the home of Fielding Clift, age 76 (his mother's father).
William A. Bloxton III (age 16) was on the 1860 Census living with his mother's brother, Arthur F. (Marion) Clift, age 44, and working as a laborer.
