Edward A. Cobb died at the home of his daughter in Orinda, Calif., Saturday morning, August 4*, at the age of 81 years, after living in Andrew County several years. He has many relatives living in Andrew County who mourn with the family.
Mr. Cobb was born in Dorsetshire, England, August 24, 1864*, to Amos and Harriett Brand Cobb, and the family came to Andrew County in 1874 and settled on the Amos Cobb homestead two miles northeast of Savannah. Mr. and Mrs. Cobb brought two* children with them and thirteen* children were born here and grew to young man and young woman-hood, all respected citizens. Those who remain to mourn their brother's departure are: Charles B. Cobb of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Etta Reece of Savannah, A. H. Cobb of Filer, Idaho, Mrs. Amy Ralph of Hew Hampton, Mrs. Minnie Williams of Denver, Colo., and W. B. Cobb of St. Joseph.
The funeral services were in Ormgo, Calif., August 13, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Gelwix, and burial was in Oakland, Calif., cemetery near Orinda.
He was married to Miss Louisa Holt, the daughter of the late beloved pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Holt, November 13, 1888, and to them were born five children and with their mother survive him: Arthur H. Cobb of New Mexico, William F. Cobb of Kirksville, Sarah Jane Gelwix of Orinda, Calif., Amos Cobb of Grant's Pass, Oregon, Miss Marian Elizabeth Cobb of San Francisco, Calif. He also leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The deceased joined the Mount Vernon Baptist Church as a very young man. He later became a member at Bedford, Iowa, where the family resided several years. He was a good Christian man, a successful farmer, and an upright citizen.
