Obituary, Mrs. C. L. Evans Buried in Oregon Yesterday, Savannah Reporter, Andrew Co. MO, April 25, 1941
Services were held yesterday, April 24, at the Oregon Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. F. G. Hilbers, for Mrs. Ellen Eliza Cobb Evans, eighty-three years old, widow of Dr. C. L. Evans, well-known Holt County physician. Burial was in the Oregon cemetery. She died at the home of her son, Dr. R. A. Evans, Savannah, Tuesday, after an illness of two weeks. She was born in Dorsetshire, England, and came to the United States with her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Amos Cobb, who settled near Savannah in 1875. (Correction: She came over with her mother in 1874 arriving in Savannah on February 14. Her father had come over in 1872).
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Mary Wynn, Barry, Ill., and Dr. R. A. Evans of Savannah; four sisters, Mrs. A. T. Clark and Mrs. B. L. Ralph, both of Clarinda, Iowa; Mrs. Ette Reece of Savannah, and Mrs. Minnie Williams of Denver; four brothers, C. B. Cobb, Oklahoma City; Edward Cobb, Bedford, Iowa; Albert Cobb, Filer, Idaho; and William B. Cobb of St. Joseph.
