Obit: Vincent A. Cobb Killed Saturday, Savannah Reporter, Andrew Co., MO, June 20 1919, In the Ice Business 25 Years, Run-away Mule Team Crushes His Life Out

Saturday morning about 9 o'clock the team of mules hitched to the ice wagon ran away on the hill a short distance east of Savannah and killed almost instantly V. A. Cobb who had been in the ice business in Savannah for twenty-five years.

Memorial services were held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon with one of the largest attendance of any funeral services ever held here. Members of the Masonic order were present from St. Joseph and other towns and there was a large body of them present. They gave their burial rites at the cemetery. Burial was in the Savannah Cemetery.

Vincent Amos Brand Cobb was born in Dorsetshire, England, September 8, 1869*. With his parents he came to Andrew County in 1874 and located on the old homestead about one and a half miles northeast of Savannah. He was one of thirteen children, and the first of the family to pass to the Great Beyond with the exception of the father, who died May 16, 1894.

He has resided in and near Savannah all his life except about six years spent at Maryville. Vincent never married, but since the death of his father has made his home with his mother and sister.

There survive him, his mother, Mrs. H. B. Cobb, and sisters, Mrs. Mary Griffith, Mrs. G. W. E. Scott, Mrs. Etta Reece, Mrs. B. L. Ralph and Mrs. O. V. Sells are of Savannah, Mrs. A. T. Clark, Clarinda, Iowa, Mrs. C. L. Evans, Oregon, Mo., Mrs. E. H Williams, Chillicothe, and brothers, C. B. Cobb, Olustee, Okla., A. H. Cobb, Savery, Wyoming, E. A. and W. B. Cobb of Bedford, Iowa.

He was converted under the pastorate of Rev. C. C. Hatcher and united with the First Baptist Church of Savannah in December, 1911, was a constant and faithful attendant and at the time of his death was one of the trustees of the church.

He was made a Master Mason in Maryville Lodge No. 470 A. F. and A M. in 1899. He was a member of Savannah Chapter No. 83 Royal Arch Masons, Savannah Chapter No. 222 Order of the Eastern Star, St. Joseph Order of the Easter Star, St. Joseph DePaynes Commandery No. 4, St. Joseph; Moila Temple Order of the Mystic Shrine, St. Joseph.

Vincent was a man among men. He was modest and unassuming, kind and charitable. He will be greatly missed in fraternal circles, in the council of his church and in the community at large.
