Obituary, Charles B. Cobb, Savannah Reporter, December 12, 1947

Charles B. Cobb, the oldest son of Amos and Harriett B. Cobb, was born at Dorsetshire, England, April 28, 1860. He passed away at Oklahoma City, Okla., where he had long been a resident. He came to Missouri at the age of 14, living on a farm northeast of Savannah, which is still known as the Cobb farm. He moved to Oklahoma in the year of 1903.

On April 1, 1883, he united in marriage to Laura Catherine Holt, who preceded him in death, Jan. 31, 1929. To them four children were born: three sons and one daughter. One son, Milton, died in infancy. The surviving children are: Harry A., C. B., Jr., and Mrs. Amy Goodwyn, all of whom reside in Oklahoma. Other surviving relatives are: three sisters, Mrs. Etta Reece of Savannah; Mrs. Amy Ralph of New Hampton; and Mrs. Minnie Williams of Denver, Colo. There are also two brothers: A. H. Cobb of Fruitland, Idaho; and W. B. Cobb of St. Joseph.

On April 22, 1930, Mr. Cobb was united in marriage to Mrs. Bessie Nuckols who survives him. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, having become a member of that body, Jan. 10, 1885. He held a lifetime membership in the Masonic Lodge at Savannah. Mr. Cobb was an industrious man and highly respected by all who knew him.

The funeral service was held from the Breit Chapel in Savannah, Sat., Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. Rev. Charles S. Macy, of the Savannah Christian Church, was in charge. Mrs. Fred Crawford and Mrs. Celestie Whitchurch, sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ellis Breit. The pallbearers were: George Lambright, Fred Fritchman, William Roberts, Fred Kurz, Frank Harrington, and Walter Hall. Interment was in the Savannah Cemetery.
