Obituary, Savannah Reporter (front page), 13 February 1925, MRS. G. W. E. SCOTT DIES SUDDENLY

Yesterday morning at 3 o'clock Mrs. G. W. E. Scott passed away after a serious illness of but a few hours from what seemed to be heart failure from the flu. She was born and raised in Andrew county and is beloved by all who know her, the daughter of Mrs. H. B. Cobb. (Correction: She was born in Coombe Keynes, Dorset, England.)

All sorrow with the family in this tragic loss. To human minds it seems as if this good woman is needed in the home.

Memorial services will be held at the Baptist Church either Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Arrangements will not be made until today when relatives from Oklahoma and Colorado are expected.

Mrs. Scott had been ill with flu for several days, and Wednesday morning she went down to the basement and into the furnace room to replenish the fire. She came back and something seemed to be wrong and she went back to the basement and was later found where she had fallen on the basement floor and no one will ever know what happened there. She was brought upstairs by neighbors and put to bed where she remained for a while and later got up and called her daughter but she was in a serious condition all day and grew worse on Wednesday evening and passed away yesterday morning with her daughter Mrs. John Ordnung and her husband and other relatives at her bedside. Their only son Edgar died about three years ago and left a little daughter, who is living in Chicago.
