Maurice was a passenger on C-47B #43-16343 which was flying from Tacloban, Philippines to Angaur, Palau during the war.

C-47B #43-16343 was assigned to the 70th Troop Carrier Squadron, 433rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force. The plane went missing, cause unknown.

Maurice was declared "Missing In Action" on this flight when it failed to arrive at Angaur.

He was previously awarded the Purple Heart.
