Son of Hugo Berschel who resided in Iowa.

Eldon served as a Sergeant & Engineer on C-47B (#43-16343), 70th Troop Carrier Squadron, 433rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Chickasaw County, Iowa prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 24, 1942 at Camp Dodge, Herrold, Iowa. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a mechanic and also as Married.

Eldon was declared "Missing In Action" during a flight from Tacloban, Philippines to Angaur, Palau during the war. The plane went missing, cause unknown.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
