Bio

I am a native of Kershaw, S.C. I am the pastor of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church in Corryton, Tennessee.

By researching my father's family tree, I have discovered I am the third great grandson of Matthew Heustess and Nancy Ann Spears of Marlboro County, South Carolina. In the early 1800's, most of their descendants lived in the Peedee region of eastern South Carolina.

Modern-day descendants of this branch of the Heustess family are concentrated in the Carolinas, Alabama and Arkansas. Twelve of the most common surnames in this branch of the Heustess family tree during the 19th century include Calhoun, Covington, Dampier, David, Hamer, Hubbard, Northcutt, Roper, Spears, Stanton, Stubbs and Wright.

To gain a better understanding of my mother's heritage, I am currently researching the Hamel, Love and Thomasson families of York County, South Carolina. I have discovered distant cousins scattered throughout the southeastern United States.

Thank you for your kindness and cooperation. I welcome your comments and corrections.
