******** NOTE - If I have sent you an edit for plot info, please know that we can now search by section, and having the word "section" there throws that off, when you just need to list the name of the section to get the system to sort properly. Or things like 1st vs. First, I am basing the edits off of the way the information is listed on the cemetery's searchable website. I am working on making them all uniform. THANK YOU to all who approve these edits!! *********

I have completely photographed Elmwood-Saint Joseph Cemetery in Mason City, IA and finished in 2011. Still working on identifying the unreadable markers. All the photos that I have taken at Elmwood in Mason City are also on file with the cemetery office. If you are unsure of the photos I have placed, please check to see if there are any notes by clicking on the photo. I am currently going thru the records, a section at a time, and documenting all those who are not marked in any way.
The 12% un-photographed at Elmwood is mostly due to all the unmarked graves.

NOTE!!! If you have info that needs updating please send me corrections thru the Suggest a Correction feature, I will make the changes. If you have a bio to add, please email me with the "suggest other" feature, I will add it. THERE IS NO REASON TO CREATE DUPLICATES to get information added or updated. If you are related, and I am not, I will transfer. JUST ASK!! Via the Suggest Other in the edit functions.
I check my page almost daily. CK

Use of any photos I have taken is fine for PERSONAL genealogy use, including your trees you may have on Ancestry.com, please just give credit. Thanks! CK

Preserving history, yours and mine, one stone at a time. I do this out of respect for those that have gone before us, so that they are remembered and any and every stone in the cemetery be preserved digitally forever.

Personal family lines that I am researching include (but not limited to): Clark-Shunkwiler, Borel, Goslin, Beisel, Lease, Peschl, Wise and Hill.

~~Note about the dates on some of the memorials at Elmwood with no stones. I have an old set of records and they don't seem to line up exactly with the dates that are on-line. They seem to be a day off, here and there, on both birth and death days, so don't go by the memorial info only. Also, if you find dates for Jan 1st or Dec 31st - DOUBLE CHECK them, the online system adds a default day when only the year is entered. I have also found a few burials that are not in the right spot in the database, because the picture I took is in a different section in my files.
