Jose Swartz Dominguez, 89, lifetime area resident passed away August 10,
2012 in Orangevale, CA at the home of his only son.
The funeral service will be Monday August 27, 2012 at 11 o'clock in the morning at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming. The rite of committal and interment of the remains will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Ron Machado will officiate. Following the services friends and family will gather at his home, 753 S. Santa Barbara in Deming.
Jose was born April 13, 1923 in Swartz, NM to Georgia Leyba Swartz and Jose Atenojenes Dominguez. He grew up on the family ranch and attended Grant County Schools. On January 22, 1944 he married Reina Duran in Fierro. After working in the local mines for many years the family moved to Albuquerque where he retired from Sandia Laboratories. After retirement he and his wife, Reina, moved to Deming where they were active in the senior community and were communicants at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Reina passed away in May 2000 and upon his health failing he moved to California to be with his son.
Survivors include his son, Eddie Joe and wife Merlinda Dominguez and their children, Edward and wife Rosanna, Edna Regina Wenzel and husband Scott Allen; 1 great-grandchild, Stephan Anthony Wenzel, all of California and a sister Mary Dominguez of Deming. Of special importance, as well, is his caregiver, Natalia Lopez.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife and 16 brothers and sisters.
