John Sloan Alexander was listed in the book, Early Settlers of Sangamon County. He moved from Fayette County, Kentucky (near Lexington, KY) with his wife, Mary Polly (Simpson) and four of his children in the Fall of 1826. They settled in what is known as "Fancy Creek Township," and where six more children were born. John and Mary prospered in the ownership of many sections of farmland and were highly esteemed in the community.
