Mrs. Sarah S. (Alexander) Cantrall was a native of Kentucky, and was born November 7, 1820. She came to Sangamon county with her parents when she was six years of age. Her maiden name was Alexander. In March 1837, she was married to Samuel Cantrall, who died in 1884. She was a member of the Christian church for seventy years. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Reesburg, of Washington state, and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Horn, who resides in Nebraska, and Mrs. Isaac Bates, who resides in Oklahoma.
Sarah was killed while trying to light a lantern in her bedroom in her son Henry's house in Athens. Sarah burned to death. Henry died of grief the next day.
