U. C. AMERPOHL LAID TO REST TUESDAY
On Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, March 19, 1921, the Grim Reaper entered the portals of the Amerpohl home in this village and released the husband and father, U. C. Amerpohl from his sufferings.

Ulrich Charles Amerpohl, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Amerpohl, was born in Hamburg, Germany on May 2, 1854 and died at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 16 days, following a year's illness with hardening of the arteries.

Mr. Amerpohl came to America in August 1854 with his parents, and settle at Sauk City, Wis., later moving to Madison, and then to Monroe. In the early seventies he moved to Brodhead where he made his home until he came to Blanchardville about thirty-five years ago.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Eliza Gould on July 29, 1891 at New Glarus, Wis. To this union were born seven children, six of whom survive. (Doris passed away June 14, 1897)

He leaves to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father, his wife, three sons and three daughters –Henry of Madison, Clifford of Janesville, Agnes, Grace, Walter and Cora of Blanchardville, all of whom were present at the last sad rites.

He is also survived by three sisters and four brothers – Lewis, Edward and Mrs. J.C. Harlow of Janesville, Wis.; Dell, Mrs. Amanda Barmore and Mrs. Mary Schempp of Brodhead, Wis. and Mrs. Agnes Schenk of Mikanna, Wis., also two little granddaughters.

Mr. Amerpohl made his home in Blanchardville for a period of nearly thirty-five years where he has won the respect of his neighbors, friends and associates, performing his daily task in a conscientious manner. During his illness he has been tenderly cared for by his loved ones who did all that was possible to relieve his sufferings and brighten his few remaining hours. With the passing of Mr. Amerpohl, the home has been bereaved of a loving husband and father, and the community, a kind neighbor and friend. Mr. Amerpohl was a member of the Methodist Church and also of the Odd Fellow Lodge.

Funeral services were held at the residence and at the United Brethren Church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E.J. Sachtjen, pastor of the M.E. Church officiating. He was laid to rest in the Graceland cemetery, Blanchardville.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. J.C. Harlow and Mr. Lewis Amerpohl of Janesville; Mr. Dell Amerpohl of Brodhead. On account of illness the other brother and sisters were unable to attend the funeral.
