Henry Crawford Wornom was born the 12th of 14 children to the Rev. Charles Hubbard and Jane Elizabeth, nee Gilmour, Wornom. His father, who had previously been married and had a son in Virginia, came to Illinois in the late 1830's and was one of the earliest settlers in Warren County, Illinois. It was there that Henry's parents met and married.

He grew up in Warren County, Illinois and, on 14 Feb 1883 married Catherine Lillis ("Kate") Tharp. To this union were born four children: Charles W, who died at the age of 18 and is buried (with his mother) in the Center Grove Cemetery at Kirkwood, Illinois; Bessie Fern, who married Harry Ernest Birkinsha and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Arkansas; James Dale (who went by J.Dale) who married Edith Blanche Larrance and is buried in Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma; and Roy Greenlee who married Nettie Lennox and is buried in Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Henry and Kate divorced; he married Elizabeth and farmed in Logan County, Kansas. His sister Eliza lived in Beaver City.

Henry was survived by his three youngest children and 9 grandchildren.
